Klong’s Restaurant – Thai

Okay, like I already know that y’all think I’m a fat ass…but that’s not stopping me from posting more food pictures!

So we went to Klong’s Restaurant in the East Village (7 Saint Marks Pl # A New York, NY.) The ambience was great (great for dates ) and the servers were attentive. The food wasn’t as spicy as I wanted it to be, especially since I asked them to make it EXTRA hot (I have a high tolerance), but it was delicious! It cost 3 people around $23 each, which included two appetizers, three entrees, and an insanely delicious truffle dessert. And my friend might have ordered a cocktail…I don’t remember. Either way it was good food for a very reasonable price.

P.S. – Don’t mind the pictures…very bad lighting.

One of my favorite blog followers requested a post on fashion trends that conform to her modest values. While current trends promote leotards, as popularized by Madonna, Lady Gaga, and the like, tight, skinny jeans, mini dresses, and form, fitting bandage dresses, there are those who move away from them and go along with the concept that sometimes more is more. Whether it is a personal value or a result of religious principles, modesty and trendy are not mutually exclusive.

So I ended up going to Katz’s Deli and ofcourse wanted to share some pics with ya’ll. It was New Year’s weekend so can you imagine the line and the madness! I got myself a Reuben, which is my favorite sandwich, while my friend got the turkey sandwich. Although we both enjoyed our sandwiches, I have to describe them as being too “meaty” even for me.

If you haven’t heard of Bill Cunningham, well I don’t know if I would conclude that you’ve been living under a rock, but you’ve definitely been deprived of an artist who was able to divert attention off the runways and on to the streets. Often seen on his bicycle with camera in hand, Cunningham has become a fixture in the fashion industry and New York City life. Long before the existence of ”Street Style” Bloggers, Bill has been taking candid pictures of stylish people on the street, which are splashed across the pages of the New York Times “On the Street” section. He has taken pictures of beauties such as Greta Garbo and has chronicled the wardrobes of elites such as Brooke Astor.

Recently, I came across the documentary “Bill Cunningham New York,” which I must say was absolutely remarkable. It’s finally on netflix! Besides giving us a glimpse into Cunningham’s life as a NY Times photographer who tirelessly goes around town on his bicycle trying to capture current street trends, it shows us the simplicity of his existence. In an industry known for glamour, luxe, and extravagance, Bill Cunningham finds meaning in understated elegance that’s far from flashy. Such irony. He owns a collection of $20 blue shirts and eats breakfast combos that cost him $3. Although anyone can succumb to the temptation of “all that glitters,” Cunningham abides to his own central dogma: honesty. He does not compromise and this is highlighted in the movie when he leaves his job at Women’s Wear Daily when he is forced to make a choice.

My favorite quote from the movie is obviously, the one I chose to be the title of the post. Also, I loved when Anna Wintour said, “We all dress for Bill.”

Anyways, I would recommend anyone to watch this documentary, because although it is emerged in the world of fashion, it is ultimately about an artist who refuses to compromise his values.
